BMW X5 official price revealed; starts from RM 618,800

KUALA LUMPUR: The BMW X5 was first previewed in May 2019, and now the German automaker has revealed the car’s official price along with that of the X2 M35i. The G05 BMW X5 would be sold as a fully imported unit, available in sole variant option - xDrive40i M Sport with a price tag of RM 618,800 (on-the-road without insurance). Surprisingly, the official price is significantly less than the one estimated, i.e., RM 640,000.

The BMW X5 is powered by a B58 six-cylinder turbo engine that churns out a maximum power of 340 PS at 5,500 to 6,500 rpm along with a peak torque of 450 Nm from 1,500 to 5,200 rpm. The engine is coupled to a ZF 8-speed sport automatic gearbox along with an all-wheel-drive system with rear differential lock. On the performance front, the X5 covers 0 to 100 kmph mark in 5.5 seconds and is known to have a combined fuel economy of 10.87 kmpl.

On the dimensions front, the new X5 seems to be a bigger car over the previous-gen model. It measures 4,922 mm in length (36 mm more), 2,004 mm in width (66 mm more), and 1,745 mm in height (19 mm more). The wheelbase is now 42 mm longer at 2,975 mm.

The Malaysian-spec BMW X5 is a five-seater model with 650-litre boot capacity that can be extended to 1,870-litre with rear seat folded. Also, on offer is a powered split-open tailgate and a neat boot cover that slides into the luggage compartment floor.

As can be known from the X5’s variant name, the car comes with M Sport package that features rugged front bumper, adaptive LED headlights, large air intakes, gloss black trim, body-colored cladding, a large rear diffuser, and twin integrated exhaust pipes. The car gets adaptive M suspension and a set of stylish 20-inch ten-spoke alloy wheels that hide M Sport brakes with blue calipers.
