Say hello to all-new BMW X7 Dark Shadow Edition

KUALA LUMPUR: After 1 Series Shadow Edition, M2 Black Shadow Edition, and M5 Nighthawk Edition, BMW added one more model in the list of its black packs. Dubbed as BMW X7 Dark Shadow Edition, the new blacked-out model is the latest version of its flagship SAV (Sports Activity Vehicle).

The very limited edition of the seven-seater X7 will be built at the company's largest global manufacturing unit in Spartanburg in South Carolina, US, starting from next month. This unique vehicle will be built for all the international markets, with a total of 600 being produced. 

The Shadow Edition dons in BMW Individual Frozen Arctic Grey, i.e., dark gray color with a matte finishing. The Extended Shadowline high-gloss black trim is applied to the kidney grille, air inlets, door window trim, B- and C-pillar covers, the base of the mirrors, and roof rails. Furthermore, the tips of the trapezoidal exhaust system are also finished in black chrome. The crossover rides on 22-inch V-spoke rims with a Jett Black finish.

The interior also gets exclusive touches to set this X7 apart from its rivals. There is BMW Individual Full Merino Leather in a two-tone mix of Night Blue and Black with contrast stitching. The upper dashboard, doors, and armrests are adorned in Night Blue Nappa Leather, whereas the lower dash and front seat backs are trimmed in Black Merino leather. Other highlights include Night Blue Alcantara on BMW Individual headliner.

Powering the X7 Dark Shadow Edition is a turbocharged 4.4-litre V8 engine generating 523 hp of power and 750 Nm of torque. It is mated to an eight-speed automatic gearbox with an all-wheel-drive and rides on a two-axle air suspension. The SUV can run 0-100 kmph sprint in 4.5 seconds and reach a top speed of 250 kmph.

The X7 Dark Shadow Edition will be offered with a comprehensive selection of standard and optional equipment, and a number of packages including Driving Assistance Professional Package, Cold Weather Package, Luxury Seating Package, and Executive Package.

At the time of the pre-order, customers would only get an option to choose between the captain's chairs or a three-seat bench for the second row.

The German automaker has not yet announced its plans to bring the X7 Dark Shadow Edition to the Malaysian market.
