F90 BMW M5 launched in Malaysia
KUALA LUMPUR: Only yesterday we reported that BMW is all set to launch the F90 M5 sedan in Malaysia and we hereby confirm its launch in the Malaysian market. Being the proud winner of 2018 World Performance Car Award, the F90 M5 is launched with a few first-in-class features and is priced at RM942,759.86 (on-road price excluding insurance).
Powering the F90 M5 is a twin-turbocharged, 4.4-litre, V8 engine, which generates a maximum power of 600 PS between 5,600 to 6,700 rpm and a peak torque of 750 Nm between 1,800 and 5,600 rpm, mated to an eight-speed M Steptronic torque converter automatic transmission. The F90 M5 comes powered by BMW’s Drivelogic system with three different response modes (Efficient, Sport and Sport Plus) which allows a driver to smoothly transit from comfortable driving to shorter shift times, and on to extremely short shift times as and when required.
For the first time, the M5 gets the new M xDrive all-wheel-drive system that works with the car’s Active M Differential and M-specific driving dynamics control software. It also features a 2WD mode wherein all the drive goes to the rear wheels.
Talking about its performance, the latest M5 sedan can reach 0 to 100 kmph in just 3.4 seconds, while it takes 11.1 seconds for it to reach a speed of 200 kmph. BMW claims that it can clock a top speed of 250 kmph and consumes 10.5-litre of fuel per 100 km.
Braking is handled by M compound disc brakes with six-piston fixed calipers at the front and single-piston floating calipers at the rear. Moreover, BMW Group Malaysia offers an M carbon ceramic brakes upgrade for RM95,000, which are lighter by 23 kg, comes with gold-painted calipers and offers much more effective braking.
Exterior features include M-specific standard items like bumpers, side gills and side mirror caps along with a carbon-fiber-reinforced plastic (CFRP) roof, BMW Individual high-gloss Shadow Line trim and a rear spoiler. The F90 M5 comes fitted with 20-inch Double-spoke style M light-alloys shod with tubeless tyres (275/35 at the front and 285/35 at the rear).
Inside the car, you’ll find anthracite headliner paired with Aluminium Carbon and Dark Chrome trims, upholstered Merino leather seats, and an M-specific steering wheel. The latest M5 is loaded with features and equipment like a 10.25-inch Navigation system with BMW Gesture Control, 11-mode ambient lighting, four-zone climate control, parking assistance with a reverse camera along with a set of 16 speakers connected to a Harmon Kardon audio system.
Safety features include Dual Stability Control, Automatic Stability Control, Dynamic Brake Control, Cornering Brake Control, Approach Control Warning and Rear Collision Warning.
You can choose the latest BMW M5 from three colour schemes - Marina Bay Blue metallic, Donington Grey metallic and Singapore Grey metallic which will be available at all authorized BMW dealerships nationwide starting June 1, 2018.
