Honda Malaysia sold over 44k cars in the first half of 2019

KUALA LUMPUR: In the first half of 2019, Honda Malaysia sold over 44,200 units with May being the highest selling month with 10,500 trades. The Japanese automaker recently announced all this information and with this, it claims to retain its position as the No.1 non-national automaker in the country. Honda’s year-to-date industry volume rests at 15.3 percent, thus placing the brand on the second position overall.

Honda City

The biggest contributor in its 44k plus sales in 1H of 2019 is the brand’s most popular vehicle, the City. Around 15,000 units of the City were sold (covering 34 percent sales share), making it the most sought after B-segment car in Malaysia.

Following the City, is the HR-V with 20 percent share, next at 14 percent is the CR-V. Further, according to Honda Malaysia’s joy are BR-V, Jazz, Civic, City, CR-V, and HR-V that have once again emerged as the market leaders in their respective segments (for May 2019). The demand for the cars mentioned above is so much that there is a waiting period of around one to two month.

Honda Jazz

Toichi Ishiyama, Honda Malaysia managing director and CEO said, “I want to take this opportunity to thank all Malaysians for their continuous support and trust in the Honda brand. The first half of 2019 has been challenging but encouraging for us. The Civic reached a milestone of 130,000 units sold while the Jazz delivered the 100,000th unit to its owner.”

Honda HR-V

He further added “It is truly inspiring for us to see how these two models have become a favourite among Malaysians and we are hoping to achieve more milestones this year. Honda will continue to offer products which are of good quality and advanced technologies as we strive to deliver the best for Malaysians and share the joy of owning a Honda to all our customers,”

Honda CR-V

Sarly Adle Sarkum, Honda Malaysia newly appointed COO said that since he took the office things have been inspiring and was highly impressed with the strong commitment and dedication of the team to bring the company to greater heights in Malaysia. All this has given him given confidence to take on the challenge to push our sales even further. He also thanked all our customers for supporting our brand.
