JAECOO kicks off local production of Omoda C9 in Shah Alam, delivery start in Jan 2025

KUALA LUMPUR:  JAECOO Malaysia is gearing up for an exciting 2025 with the first locally assembled C9 Premium Off-road SUV Coupé rolling off the assembly line at its Shah Alam plant today.

This milestone sets the stage for the brand's second model under its Malaysian portfolio, with customer deliveries slated to begin in January 2025.

The company expressed confidence in its ability to meet local demand for the C9 SUV Coupé, which is offered in both AWD and 2WD configurations.

According to Emily Lek, Vice President of JAECOO Malaysia, the reception for the vehicle has been promising. “We are very happy with the encouraging response for our C9 Premium Off-road SUV Coupé and ready to deliver on the Malaysian market’s demands.

The Shah Alam facility, which now produces both the C9 SUV Coupé and the JAECOO J7 in AWD and 2WD variants as well as the Jaecoo J7, reflects the brand's growing presence in Malaysia.

Both models are available for viewing, test drives, and bookings at JAECOO’s authorized dealerships across Peninsular and East Malaysia.

The JAECOO OMODA C9 SUV Coupé was recently launched in Malaysia, positioning itself as a fresh contender in the competitive D-segment SUV market.

With a blend of rugged off-road capability and luxurious urban appeal, the C9 aims to cater to modern consumers seeking advanced features and high-end design.

Available in two variants—2WD and AWD—the SUV is competitively priced at RM168,800 and RM188,800, respectively, offering a well-rounded package for its segment.

Under the hood, the C9 is powered by a 2.0-litre TGDI engine, delivering 257 hp and 400 Nm of torque, paired with an 8-speed automatic transmission.

Inside, the SUV boasts a premium cabin with a 12.3-inch touchscreen, leatherette upholstery, and convenience features like a 540-degree camera and three-zone climate control.

Deliveries are set to begin by January 2025, with vehicles available for viewing and booking at dealerships nationwide.
