New upgrade kit introduced for old Defender
KUALA LUMPUR: The original Defender 90/110 arrived more than three decades ago, and so the arrival of a new model is more than overdue. As per recent reports, Land Rover will soon reveal the next-gen Defender; however, the company has found a way to keep the older version up and running.
How? Well, the company has introduced an upgrade for the old Defender 90/110 that was manufactured starting 1994. Included in the tailored upgrade kit are elements like-new performance tyres, engine upgrades, a set of 18-inch Sawtooth wheels, and suspension bits.
To begin with, the kit comes with £432, i.e., Php 26,800 (per piece) 18-inch Sawtooth wheels. However, if you want the full set of five wheels, including the spare one, it will cost you £2,160, approx. Php 134,000. It is to be noted that the wheels are not accompanied by tyres just yet. Matching the new wheels is a new suspension kit that can be fitted to all the Defenders model built starting 2007.
Do you remember the Land Rover Defender Works V8? Well, owners can order the same upgrades for it as well. The Defender Works V8 upgrade kit is called the Defender Handling Upgrade Kit. This kit comes with V8 specs enhanced suspension, brake disc, calipers, and pads, along with Sawtooth alloy wheels.
Land Rover Defenders built from 2012 onwards and powered by the 2.2-litre diesel engine are also eligible for an upgrade. Thanks to the Land Rover Classic, the car can now be tuned with the Defender Classic Works Upgrade Kit. This kit will give the Defender a power upgrade - an additional 40 PS of power, thus pooping a total of 162 PS and 463 Nm. The top speed has also been raised to 171 kmph.
Along with the power upgrade, the Defender Classic Works Upgrade kit also gets all the available suspension upgrades, wheels, and tyre brakes along with bespoke badging. Besides the upgrades, the customers will also get a chance to visit the Land Rover Classic Works facility in Germany or the UK where the upgrades are carried out. Owners will also receive a certificate.
The Classic Works kit is the most expensive kit offered by Land Rover; it is priced at £17,000, that’s roughly Php 1,054,000.
