OTA update for the GKUI on Proton X70 is out

KUALA LUMPUR: The Proton X70 always finds a way or other to make it to the headlines. And this time around, it is the update for the head unit GKUI (Geely Smart Ecosystem) which has led us to write this story. In order to provide the customers of the X70 with a smoother experience, Proton has released an OTA (over-the-air) update for the GKUI infotainment system. The update is very similar to the OTA firmware update which we receive on our Android or Apple smartphones. The GKUI system will automatically check for available updates once you will start the X70. Then you need to tap on “go to upgrade” to start downloading the new files. The thing to be noted here is that the update of 783 MB will not affect the 1 GB of data which you get along with the car. Once the download is finished, the update process will begin and the system needs to be reset.

In case you turn your car off while the update was happening, the process will be paused and the update will continue from where it left the next time you start your X70. Proton has mentioned that the update should take around 7 minutes to download, however, this will highly depend on the signal strength you have at your place. The Proton X70 has been one of the most anticipated cars of 2018 and it surely has not disappointed after its launch. There are more than 15000 X70s booked and 2000 customers already have one resting in their garage.
