The Proton X70 will soon break cover in Indonesia

KUALA LUMPUR: Rully Septiadi, the head of marketing at Proton Edar Indonesia (PEI) has validated the news that Proton will be launching the SUV X70 in the Indonesian market in 2019. In Malaysia, however, the launch is not too far away as the Proton X70 will be made available to the Malaysian masses from 12 December 2018.

The Proton X70 will be showcased at the International Motor Show (IIMS) 2019 and Gaikindo Indonesia International Auto Show (GIIAS) 2019. Both the auto shows are set to take place in the months of April and July, respectively. About the price and launch time in Indonesia, there has been no word made by the Proton officials.

The launch of the Proton X70 will be a major step by the automaker in the quest of regaining the lost popularity in Indonesia. In recent years, the Indonesian people have shown little interest in Proton vehicles and the sales graph has been dipping.

According to reports, other models which Proton has acquired the license to sell under its bade will be offered in Indonesia in the future. Boyue SUV (the Proton X70), Jiaji MPV (aka VF11), and Binyue compact SUV (aka SX11) will be the other Geely models which come under the license.

Proton has been given the authority of manufacture, design, development, marketing, distribution, and sale of the three vehicles. The Malaysian automobile manufacturer will be selling these vehicles in countries such as Indonesia, Brunei, Malaysia, Thailand, and Singapore. For us over here in Malaysia, the wait left is minimal. Proton will officially launch and reveal the prices of the X70 SUV on 12 December.
