Xpeng G7 EV debuts in China with a bang, secures 10k bookings in 46 mins
KUALA LUMPUR: First previewed in January this year, the Xpeng G7 is now up for grabs in China. The brand’s latest electric SUV received a warm welcome, securing over 10,000 bookings within just 46 minutes of its official unveiling ceremony.

Driving range of up to 702 km
The EV is offered in two variants - Max and Ultra trims, powered by a rear-mounted motor generating a maximum power of 297 PS. Two available battery options are - 68.5 kWh and 80.8 kWh. Depending on the battery configuration and wheel size, the EV offers the following CLCT ranges -

Augmented reality head-up display
The EV marks the debut of the “Light Pursuit Panoramic” AR-HUD innovative tech, which Xpeng developed in partnership with Huawei. It has an 87-inch field of view and supports AR navigation, dynamic lane change guidance, and complex intersection prompts. The system offers clear visuals even on rough roads thanks to its stabilisation, distortion correction, and latency compensation technology.

The top-spec G7 Ultra comes equipped with three Turing AI chips, offering over 2,200 TOPS (trillion operations per second) of computing power, which is equivalent to nine Nvidia Orin-X chips, claims Xpeng. These chips enable high-level driver assistance systems, including:
- City Navigation Guided Pilot (NGP)
- Highway NGP
- Advanced automated parking assistance
Xpeng’s new EV will also support Level 3 autonomous driving through its vision-based XNGP system that relies on camera sensors only.

The cabin features a minimalist layout with premium materials like real wood trim, metal accents, and high-quality leather. Adding to the comfort and convenience are the features like -
- 15.6-inch floating infotainment unit
- Nappa leather seats with heating, ventilation and massage functions

- 8-inch rear control screen and wireless charging pad for rear passengers
- 20-speaker 7.1.4 surround sound system

- Password-protected electronic glovebox
- 256-colour ambient lighting

The G7 is noticeably larger than its sibling, the G6, and has a more commanding road presence. It measures 4,892 mm in length, 1,925 mm in width, and 1,655 mm in height, and spans a wheelbase of 2,890 mm. Compared to the Xpeng G6, it is 139 mm longer, 5 mm wider, and 5 mm taller.
