2020 Volvo XC90 launched in Malaysia

KUALA LUMPUR: The much-awaited 2020 Volvo XC90 has been launched in Malaysia. The unveiling of this flagship SUV was done earlier this month. Volvo’s design renaissance has undergone very precise changes since 2014, with design and upgraded power trains.

The top-of-the-line SUV, XC90 has got a visually refreshing feature with the addition of equipment such as new wheel options, vibrant addition of colors at the exterior and an imperceptible upgraded radiator grille.

The car has retained the T8 twin-engine in the hybrid variant. It produces 407 hp of maximum power and 640Nm of peak torque. The massive changes have lied with its battery that has boosted to 11.6 kWh lithium-ion, which earlier was 420 PS. The upgraded battery has gone up by 15% by offering a driving range of 50 Km straight. Along with that, it features the advanced brake-by-wire battery charging system.

In some of the markets, the model has added the Kinetic Energy Recovery System (KERS). The job of KERS is to convert the kinetic energy, that is lost at the time of breaking, into electric energy that can be used in torque assistance. It results in increasing the efficiency of the vehicle by 15 per cent along with reducing the harmful emission.

The car has got a luxurious feel in the interior. It has a new six-seat configuration added to its seven-seat layouts. Also, there have been some fancy additions made. It has got a heavily embellished Orrefors crystal gear knob.

It has also got four-zone climate control with air vents at the third row. Other fancy interiors include a leather-covered dashboard, inscription carpet with high-quality interior illumination package, adjustable side support at the front chairs and Bowers and Wilkins audio system with 19 speakers.
