2021 Land Rover Range Rover comes with a mild-hybrid engine and special editions

KUALA LUMPUR: Being one of the most desirable luxury SUVs, Land Rover Range Rover integrates peerless design and all-terrain capability with sophisticated refinement. The SUV received a comprehensive update for the 2021 model year, including a new mild-hybrid engine and a range of special editions, including HSE Westminster Edition, SVAutobiography Dynamic Black Edition, and Autobiography Fifty Edition.

The 2021 Range Rover will be available with four-, six-, eight-cylinder petrol and diesel engines, a plug-in hybrid, and a new mild-hybrid unit. The mild-hybrid 3.0-litre engine will be available in two versions - the D300 with 300 PS of power and 650 Nm of torque, and the D350 with a meaner output of 345 bhp and 700 Nm.

Claimed to be more refined and smoother than the ongoing drivetrains, the Ingenium unit is capable of up to 33.0 mpg on the WLTP cycle, significantly higher than the old V8 mill. The D300 can do the 0 to 100 kmph sprint in 7,4 seconds, marking a 0.6 seconds improvement while D350 can run the same in 7.1 seconds.

The automaker enhanced the Range Rover line-up by adding the latest connected features; Apple CarPlay and Android Auto for seamless smartphone integration. Plus, Executive Class Seating and up to eight 4G Wi-Fi connections, that make the SUV a perfect remote working hub, or entertainment zone during long drives. 

Moreover, the Land Rover also added a new Cabin Air Ionisation with PM2.5 from Nanoe, which filters harmful particulates and improves the air quality in the cabin.

In terms of safety, the 2021 Range Rover features some latest technologies - lane departure warning, emergency braking, cruise control with speed limiter, and Adaptive Cruise Control.

The key highlights of new HSE Westminster Edition comprise Atlas exterior accents, 21-inch diamond turned alloy rims, and a range of solid, metallic, and premium metallic finishes. Inside the cabin, it houses an 825-watt surround sound system, refrigerated front center console, Shadow Walnut veneers, soft-close doors, and 20-way heated and cooled front seats.

Coming to the SVAutobiography Dynamic Black Edition, it features Santorini Black Metallic paint with Narvik Black gloss exterior accents, branded illuminated tread plates, black brake calipers, 22-inch gloss black forged wheels, and Ebony seats.

Completing the trio, the new Range Rover Fifty, that was unveiled last month to celebrate the 50th anniversary of the model. Its exterior enhancements include retro-inspired paint options, unique badging, and 22-inch wheels.

The 2021 Range Rover is priced from £83,465 (RM 451,441) in the UK and available to order now.
