2023 Toyota Yaris Cross makes ASEAN debut in Indonesia

KUALA LUMPUR: Toyota has introduced the all-new Yaris Cross in the Indonesian market which marks its debut in the ASEAN region. It is a new B-segment SUV which slots between the Raize and Corolla Cross in the brand’s SUV lineup in Indonesia. It should be noted that this Yaris Cross is unrelated to the SUV with the same name available in other markets like Japan, Europe, and Australia.

Let’s get to know the key highlights of the new ASEAN-specific Toyota Yaris Cross -

• The SUV underpins the Daihatsu New Global Architecture and measures 4,310 mm in length, 1,770 mm in width, and 1,615 mm in height. The wheelbase is measured at 2,620 mm
• It will be offered in two powertrain options - 2NR-VE 1.5-litre petrol and 2NR-VEX 1.5-litre petrol hybrid 
• The first is a 1.5-litre naturally-aspirated four-cylinder unit that delivers a maximum power of 106 PS and a peak torque of 138 Nm of torque. It comes paired with either a CVT or 5-speed manual transmission driving the SUV’s front wheels

• The hybrid system comprises a 1.5-litre NA four-cylinder generating 91 PS and 121 Nm and an electric motor that makes 80 PS and 141 Nm. Also part of the setup is a lithium-ion battery and CVT gearbox
• On the exterior, the Toyota Yaris Cross underpins a ‘Solid & Dynamic’ approach with key elements like a large trapezoidal-shaped grille, aggressive LED headlights, boxy wheel arches, body cladding, and slim two-piece tail lights

• Inside, the SUV features a simple yet modern dashboard incorporating a 10.1-inch free-standing infotainment unit and a 7-inch digital instrument panel
• Also part of the kit is a powered driver’s seat, wireless charging pad, wireless smartphone connectivity, ambient lighting, electrically operated tailgate, T intouch telematics system, six airbags, panoramic sunroof, a blind spot monitor, rear cross traffic alert, and Toyota Safety Sense suite
