New Honda HR-V: Top 5 things to know

    Refreshed design and features

The new HR-V e:HEV RS features updated exterior styling, including a new minimalist front grille, 18-inch two-tone alloy wheels, and a newly designed full LED taillight strip. It exudes a confident and smart presence, making it an appealing choice for SUV lovers.

Inside, the SUV gets an updated 8-inch touchscreen that supports wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto connectivity. The centre console has also been redesigned for a more symmetrical look and now features additional storage beneath the air conditioning controls.

    New advanced safety technologies

With the pre-facelift HR-V, the automaker already offers the Honda SENSING safety pack as standard across all variants. This suite of advanced driver-assist technologies is now further enhanced with the addition of two new systems, positioning the HR-V as a well-rounded and intelligent SUV that offers greater peace of mind to consumers. The newly added systems are -

    • Adaptive Driving Beam: It ensures safer nighttime driving by automatically adjusting the high-beam distribution to avoid dazzling other road users. It detects oncoming vehicles or vehicles ahead and selectively dims specific sections of the beam while maintaining optimal visibility for the driver.
    • Active Cornering Light: This system gets activated in response to steering input or turn signal operation, providing additional illumination in the direction the vehicle is turning. This improves visibility on curves or during cornering at night.

In addition to these features, Honda SENSING will continue to include Forward Collision Warning, Collision Mitigation Braking System, Lane Keep Assist System, Road Departure Mitigation, Lane Departure Warning, Auto High Beam, Adaptive Cruise Control, Low-Speed Follow, and Lead Car Departure Notification.

    New colour options

The new HR-V is offered in two new colour choices - Phoenix Orange Pearl and Crystal Black Pearl, both aimed at complementing the HR-V’s updated exterior elements. Phoenix Orange Pearl is a premium paint option introduced for the City sedan and hatchback models in April, at an additional RM 400, which is likely to apply to the HR-V as well.

The existing colour palette, including Platinum White Pearl, Ignite Red Metallic, Meteoroid Grey Metallic, Ruse Black Metallic, and Stellar Diamond Pearl, is expected to remain unchanged, offering buyers a wider range of options to suit their personal style preferences.

    Fuel-efficient powertrain options

Just like the outgoing model, the 2025 HR-V will also be offered in three powertrain options - 1.5-litre naturally aspirated, 1.5-litre VTEC Turbo, and e:HEV hybrid, with similar power outputs as the current models. The detailed specifications are as follows -

    e:HEV Hybrid

While the output figures remain unchanged, Honda has refined the hybrid system for improved engine sound and responsiveness. It features a 1.5-litre DOHC i-VTEC Atkinson-cycle naturally aspirated engine, which primarily functions as a generator but can also drive the front wheels at higher speeds. The electrified setup offers an impressive fuel economy of 4.1 litres per 100 km, equivalent to approximately 24.4 kmpl.

    Early bird exclusive promo

Honda Malaysia has also announced an exclusive early-bird reward for early bookings of the new HR-V, i.e., a service voucher worth RM 1,500*. While full details have not been disclosed, buyers will likely be able to use it towards regular vehicle maintenance services at authorised Honda service centres across Malaysia. It may cover service-related expenses such as scheduled maintenance, parts replacement, and labour charges.
