What do we know about the China-made X5?

Both the BMW X5 variants showcase extended dimensions compared to the US-made model. For instance, the wheelbase now reads 3105 mm, extended by 130 mm, meaning more legroom for second-row passengers. Also, longer doors will make getting in and out of the car a lot easier. The car’s overall length now reads 5060 mm, i.e.138 mm more.

The Made in China X5 specs sheet has been tailored in line with the taste and requirements of the Chinese customers. For instance, the car comes equipped with - specially-designed comfort seats, a panoramic glass sunroof, extra four degrees of rear seat recline, and a bespoke M Aerodynamic exterior package.

Standard equipment list includes - BMW Laser headlamps, Harman Kardon sound system, electronically-controlled suspension, and a new smartphone tray offering wireless charging.

Coming to the mechanical part, the xDrive30Li is powered by a 2.0-litre 4-cyl turbo unit, while the xDrive40Li gets a more powerful 3.0-litre straight-six turbo mill. The drive is sent to all four wheels via an 8-speed automatic gearbox.
