Denza expands in Malaysia with four new dealerships

KUALA LUMPUR:  Premium electric vehicle (EV) brand DENZA, under the BYD Group, has expanded its footprint in Malaysia with the opening of four new dealerships simultaneously , marking a great show of intent for the brand’s growing presence in the country.

KEY TAKEAWAYS

  • What major step has DENZA taken to strengthen its presence in Malaysia?

DENZA has opened four new full-service dealerships across Malaysia — located in Old Klang Road, KL North (Jalan Kuching), Balakong, and Melaka — all launched simultaneously via a nationwide livestream.
  • How has the DENZA D9 performed in the Malaysian market since its launch?

The DENZA D9 has quickly become Malaysia’s best-selling premium electric MPV, reflecting strong local confidence in DENZA’s focus on innovation, comfort, and performance.
  • Since arriving in Malaysia, DENZA has wasted no time making an impression. Its flagship model, the DENZA D9, has quickly climbed to the top of the sales charts, now holding the title as Malaysia’s best-selling premium electric MPV.

The D9’s strong performance is a good tell tale sign of Malaysian buyers’ confidence in the brand’s focus on innovation, comfort, and performance.

This achievement comes as part of BYD’s overall momentum in Malaysia. The group reported nearly 2,400 EVs sold during the first quarter of 2025, securing its position as the number one EV brand in the country.

    Four New Dealerships Launched Simultaneously

The four new dealerships, launched at the same time through a nationwide live-streamed event, are:

    • DENZA Old Klang Road by Sime Motors, Kuala Lumpur

    • DENZA KL North by Millennium Autobeyond, Jalan Kuching, Kuala Lumpur

    • DENZA Balakong by Wing Hin Elegant, Selangor

    • DENZA Melaka by SKK Motors, Malim Jaya, Melaka

Each location is set up as a full-service premium experience centre, offering everything from sales and test drives to after-sales support and lifestyle experiences.

The showrooms are designed to reflect DENZA’s identity as a modern, forward-thinking brand, providing a setting that matches the refined character of its vehicles.

Commenting on the occasion, Eagle Zhao, Managing Director of BYD Malaysia, said, “The launch of these four new dealerships is more than just an expansion of our network — it’s a reflection of our commitment to building lasting relationships with our customers across Malaysia. At DENZA, we believe that premium electric mobility should be as much about the ownership experience as it is about the vehicle itself. These new dealerships are designed to deliver on that promise, combining sophisticated design, personalised service, and advanced technology to set a new standard in the EV market.”

More Expansion Plans in the Pipeline

DENZA isn’t stopping here. The brand plans to continue expanding its network across Malaysia, working with local partners and stakeholders to make premium electric mobility even more accessible to Malaysians.

Beyond expanding physical presence, DENZA also wants to play a bigger role in promoting EV education and awareness.

The brand believes that by combining advanced technology, sleek design, and strong customer service, it can help accelerate Malaysia’s transition towards more sustainable mobility.

What’s Next for DENZA in Malaysia?

Following the success of the D9, the next model many expect to see joining the local lineup is the Denza Z9 GT. Teased briefly on stage during the launch of the D9, the Z9 GT is a sleek, four-door grand tourer that brings a striking combination of style, power, and technology.

The Z9 GT was showcased in its plug-in hybrid form, featuring a 2.0L turbocharged engine paired with three electric motors, delivering a massive 870 PS and a total range of up to 1,100 km.

For those wondering, the fully electric version packs even more punch — up to 963 PS — and can sprint from 0-100 km/h in just 3.4 seconds.

Beyond performance, the Z9 GT also stands out with luxury features such as a Nappa leather-wrapped interior, a 'zero-gravity' lie-flat passenger seat, a Devialet sound system with rising speakers, two built-in fridges, and a panoramic glass roof.

Dual-chamber air suspension, rear-wheel steering, and diagonal movement capabilities further sweeten the package, making it a versatile and seriously capable long-distance cruiser.

While DENZA Malaysia has yet to confirm that the Z9 GT will be next vehicle to be launched in Malaysia or the exact launch timeline or pricing for the Z9 GT, it is widely expected to arrive later this year.

If the Chinese market pricing is anything to go by — ranging from about RM204,000 to RM253,000 — the Z9 GT could be a very interesting addition to Malaysia’s growing premium EV and PHEV segment.
