iCaur V27 off-road SUV makes its global premiere in the UAE

KUALA LUMPUR: Earmarked to enter Malaysia later this year, Chery’s International’s sub-brand iCaur (known as iCar in China) has recently introduced its biggest-ever model, the iCaur V27, in Dubai, United Arab Emirates. It is a mid-to-large-sized off-road SUV built on a range-extended electric vehicle (REEV) platform. 

Here’s what the all-new iCaur V27 brings to the table -

Dimensions

The V27 measures approximately 5 meters in length, which puts it in direct competition with iconic SUVs like the Toyota Land Cruiser. 

Design

In terms of design, the SUV has a boxy and rugged design with a two-tone front grille featuring bold horizontal slats. The front looks striking with oval-shaped LED headlamps and a sturdy front bumper that appears to have a relatively large approach angle, hinting at the SUV’s off-road capabilities.

Defining the robust side profile are neat body lines, pronounced wheel arches, and sporty five-spoke wheels. Towards the rear end, we can find vertically stacked tail lights, a sturdy rear bumper, and an externally mounted spare tire, accentuating the vehicle’s off-road character. 

Interior 

While no official interior shots are provided, the spy images of the brand’s flagship SUV reveal an iCaur 03-like dashboard layout with a large centre infotainment display, digital driver display, and a rotary knob. The V27 will also come equipped with a split panoramic sunroof.

Drivetrain

As mentioned, the iCaur V27 is a range-extender EV; under its metal skin lies a 1.5-litre turbocharged engine and an electric motor. The SUV will be available in both rear-wheel-drive and four-wheel-drive versions, with the latter producing a combined maximum output of approximately 450 horsepower. Chery confirmed that the iCaur V27 will offer an all-electric range of around 200 km (on the CLTC cycle).

iCaur cars in Malaysia

In Malaysia, the iCaur made its official appearance at MAS 2025 with the preview of three upcoming models - iCaur 03, iCaur 03T, and iCaur V23. Later in June, the automaker hosted the iCAUR iEXPERIENCE off-road test drive for the 03 model, where Malaysians got a hands-on experience of the iCaur 03’s off-road abilities.

The iCaur 03 is Malaysia’s first fully electric off-road-capable SUV that is set to launch in Q3 2025.
