Jaecoo J5 SUV set to launch in Malaysia next week
KUALA LUMPUR: Previewed at the OMODA | JAECOO carnival in August last year, the Jaecoo J5 is now ready to land on our shores. The automaker has announced the launch date of the upcoming SUV on its social media handles, i.e. March 5, 2026.

Dimensions: The Jaecoo J5 is a B-segment SUV that measures 4,380 mm in length, 1,860 mm in width, and 1,650 mm in height, with a 2,620 mm wheelbase. The boot space is estimated at 480 litres, which can expand up to 1,280 litres with the rear seats folded.
Engine and transmission: The Jaecoo J5 will come powered by a 1.5-litre turbocharged intercooled engine in Malaysia, unlike Thailand and Indonesia, where it is offered as a pure electric vehicle. The said engine is capable of generating a maximum power of 147 PS and a peak torque of 210 Nm. Power is sent to the front wheels via a responsive CVT automatic transmission.

Features: The expected feature kit includes -a 13.2-inch central infotainment unit, wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, 8-inch LCD instrument display, Qi wireless charger, dual-zone climate control system, an 8-speaker sound system, power-adjustable front seats with ventilation, multi-colour ambient lighting, a panoramic glass roof, and a 360-degree camera system.

Rivals: The upcoming Jaecoo J5 is set to enter the already crowded B-segment SUV space in Malaysia, where it will lock horns with strong contenders like the Proton X50, Honda HR-V, Toyota Corolla Cross and the upcoming Mitsubishi Xforce.
