KUALA LUMPUR: The Proton e.MAS 5 took the local automotive market by storm, following its debut in October last year, grabbing 1,607 bookings within 24 hours and 3,000 within the first week. Pro-Net has begun delivering the first batch of EVs, with a phased rollout plan continuing into Q1 2026.

    This achievement further cements the Proton e.MAS's presence in Malaysia’s electric vehicle space, following a landmark year in 2025, with 9,549 vehicles delivered. The brand’s EVs (e.MAS 5 and e.MAS 7) together accounted for approximately 6% of Proton’s total annual sales and enabled the national automaker to capture 22% share of Malaysia’s EV market.

    Proton e.MAS 5: Key highlights

    • Dubbed as Malaysia’s First Affordable EV, the Proton e.MAS 5 is designed to bring electrified mobility within reach of everyday Malaysians.
    • It is offered in two variants - Prime and Premium, priced at RM 59,800 and RM 72,800, respectively.
    • The entry-level Prime variant is powered by a 79 PS/130 Nm RWD motor and a 30.12 kWh CATL LFP battery pack, offering a range of 225 km.

    • The Premium trim, on the contrary, runs on a 116 PS/150 Nm rear-wheel drive setup mated to a bigger 40.16 kWh battery that lets the vehicle cruise up to 325 km, ensuring practicality for both city commutes and weekend trips. 
    • Built for comfort, the EV offers C-segment spaciousness, a 375L boot, 70L frunk, and multiple storage solutions, making it well-suited for urban families. 
    • Feature kit includes - 14.6‑Inch FHD Display Head Unit, wireless Android Auto and Apple CarPlay, dual-language voice command in English and Malay, Proton e.MAS App and Integrated Live Charging Map.
