Proton e.MAS 7 tops Malaysia’s EV sales with 1,853 units delivered in Q1 2025

KUALA LUMPUR:  PRO-NET, a subsidiary of Proton, has announced that its fully electric Proton e.MAS 7 has hit a major milestone with 1,853 units delivered in the first three months of 2025.

KEY TAKEAWAYS

  • What milestone has the Proton e.MAS 7 achieved in the first three months of 2025?

The Proton e.MAS 7 has delivered 1,853 units in the first quarter of 2025, with 797 units in March alone—making it the current best-selling EV in Malaysia with an estimated 30% market share.
  • What ecosystem support does PRO-NET provide for Proton e.MAS 7 owners to ease EV adoption?

PRO-NET provides access to over 2,300 public chargers via major partners, 75 DC fast chargers at selected dealerships, and the Proton e.MAS App that integrates a live charging map, payment, and real-time charger availability—all aimed at supporting a seamless EV ownership experience.
  • March alone saw 797 units handed over to customers, contributing to an estimated 30% year-to-date market share—making the e.MAS 7 the current best-selling EV in Malaysia.

PRO-NET CEO Zhang Qiang expressed his gratitude, saying, “We want to thank our customers for their unwavering support, and confidence in our Proton e.MAS 7 as well as trust that we can deliver an ecosystem that lets them enjoy their electrified driving experience. I also want to thank our dealers and partners for delivering an ecosystem that supports our customers’ requirements. This achievement encourages us to improve ourselves to deliver products of higher quality and give our customers a better ownership experience.”

Priced from RM105,800 for the Prime variant and RM119,800 for the Premium, the Proton e.MAS 7 has been positioned as an accessible option for Malaysians looking to make the switch to electric.

The SUV offers generous cabin space with a long wheelbase and no less than 33 storage compartments, appealing to families and daily commuters alike.

Based on a recent PRO-NET survey, buyers cited good value, a spacious cabin and boot, and the SUV’s smart features as the top reasons for choosing the e.MAS 7.

Beyond creature comforts, safety is also a big selling point. The e.MAS 7 uses the AEGIS Short Blade Battery, which has gone through rigorous testing, dubbed the ‘Six Extremes’.

The battery is designed to withstand high heat, saltwater exposure, undercarriage impacts, being rolled over while overloaded, and even side collisions.

In terms of range, Proton recently demonstrated a live test of the Prime variant’s real-world WLTP range, reinforcing confidence in the car’s claimed figures.

For many Malaysians, concerns around EV charging remain a barrier. PRO-NET is aiming to change that. The e.MAS 7 is backed by access to more than 2,300 public chargers nationwide, thanks to partnerships with major operators like Gentari, JomCharge, chargEV, DC Handal, Chargesini, Carput Zap, RExharge, and Charge+.

Additionally, 75 DC fast chargers (up to 120kW) are now operational at selected Proton, Proton e.MAS, and smart dealerships across the country.

Helping tie all this together is the Proton e.MAS App. Available for iOS and Android, the app provides a live integrated charging map featuring all the listed operators, streamlines payment, and keeps owners up to date with the latest charger availability.

Over the past three months, PRO-NET recorded 1,145 charging sessions made via the app.

“Our goal is not just to sell cars. We want to nurture a complete ecosystem that not only includes 36 dealerships with DC charging points and after-sales service but also the entire Malaysian EV charging infrastructure. We’re also working closely with CPOs (Charge Point Operators) to make EV ownership more convenient as we want our customers to have a seamless transition from ICE to EV, and enjoy their EV ownership experience,” added Zhang.

On the international front, the e.MAS 7 has already been introduced in Nepal and is expected to make its way to Trinidad and Tobago soon.
