KUALA LUMPUR: It’s been a couple of weeks since we get to know about the surfeit of activities that the Proton X70 Infotainment Head Unit (IHU) is capable of doing. It comes with a flagship-grade voice command system, which allows you to operate the entire functionality hands-free. Now, the Peninsula’s oldest national badge car maker has posted a detailed, step-by-step guide for error-free installation of any Over-The-Air (OTA) update for the infotainment system.

The note, which contained this instruction, surfaced on 12th May, i.e; last Sunday. The post doesn’t mention the availability of any specific version of the new update. Instead, it states what to do in case the company pushes an update. You will be notified automatically within 30 seconds after entering the vehicle if there is a new version to be updated. Tap on [Go to upgrade> to download the update patch. In case you have selected [cancel> by mistake, the manual update can be performed via following the steps: [Settings>>>[system>>>[GKUI 1.2.X>>>[Update>.

After completion of the download, select [Update now> and start the update process by tapping on [Confirm update>. The system will restart automatically once the process is completed. (Note: Do not switch off the engine/system in between the update process)

Thereafter, open the [Settings> menu from the homepage, then select [Restore factory settings>. Confirm the [Restore> on the pop-up menu, which will restart the IHU. This will apply the new patch to the system but will also erase all your previous personal settings like Bluetooth device info, music and radio preferences, Baidu offline maps, etc.

Proton is continuously striving to offer sterling service to its customers. The company has exhibited its goal to regain and reign the top spot in Malaysia, which is currently being throned by Perodua. A few weeks ago, Proton signed two deals in Beijing to invigorate its expansion plans, both nationally and internationally. A week ago, the company also launched a 3S outlet in Seremban, Malaysia. All these propels to expand the existing customer base in long-run.
