Proton teases e.MAS 7 update: Something big is coming

KUALA LUMPUR: Proton has launched a new teaser campaign on its social media handles, creating buzz around something new, bold, and different coming for the e.MAS 7. Coming six months after the brand’s flagship electric SUV launch in December 2024, the update is set to be revealed on July 2, 2025.

While the automaker hasn’t provided any hints in the teasers, we can connect the dots to speculate on what new updates might be coming for the EV. 

Back in April, Proton gave the exciting e.MAS 7 owners an early glimpse into its upcoming Over-The-Air (OTA) update roadmap. Some of the key features in the pipeline are -

• Simplified charging controls on both the touchscreen and the mobile app
• Improved ABS tuning for better ride comfort
• Battery preheating and hibernation mode updates for better performance
• Auto-unlocking once battery prep for scheduled drives is complete

Apple CarPlay or Android Auto connectivity is also set to be rolled out via over-the-air updates in stages throughout 2025.  The earlier revealed rollout plan is as follows -

• May/June 2025 - Wireless Apple CarPlay​
• August/September 2025 - Wired Apple CarPlay​
• November/December 2025 - Wireless and wired Android Auto

The Proton e.MAS 7 holds a key position in Proton's EV lineup as well as in the Malaysian automotive market since its debut, and the upcoming update is likely to mark the beginning of a mid-cycle refresh to maintain the EV’s market momentum.
