Two new Chery Tiggo PHEVs launching in Malaysia on October 3

KUALA LUMPUR: Chery Malaysia is finally ready to launch the PHEV versions of its striking SUVs, the Tiggo 7 and Tiggo 8, powered by the brand’s Super Hybrid System (CSH). The automaker has just teased the electrified SUVs on its social media channels, confirming that the highly anticipated launch will take place on October 3, 2025.

Chery introduced its new Super Hybrid System (CSH) in Malaysia earlier this year, aiming to make low-emission mobility solutions more accessible to local customers. The Chery Tiggo Cross was the first model to feature this technology, with the Tiggo 7 PHEV CSH and Tiggo 8 PHEV CSH set to follow. 

New Chery Tiggo 7 CSH, Tiggo 8 CSH bookings open 

Chery Malaysia began accepting bookings for its upcoming PHEVs last week and revealed the preliminary specifications. As mentioned, both models are powered by a Super Hybrid system; let’s take a closer look at this platform in detail. 

Chery Super Hybrid system: Key highlights

Designed to deliver superior energy efficiency and outstanding driving dynamics, Chery Super Hybrid tech sets a new benchmark for hybrid powertrains in the global automotive industry.

At the heart of the platform lies a 1.5-litre turbocharged dedicated hybrid engine, achieving 44.5% thermal efficiency - one of the highest in the industry. The engine is paired with a high-efficiency e-motor for a combined output of 347 PS and 525 Nm. The setup offers a smooth, powerful, and highly efficient drive across all conditions, claims Chery.

Also part of the hybrid setup is an 18.3 kWh lithium iron phosphate battery, which is dust- and water-resistant, and capable of withstanding extreme temperatures up to 95°C. It supports fast charging, reaching 80% in just 20 minutes from 30% to 80%.

The Chery Super Hybrid tech offers a combined driving range of up to 1,200 km (pure electric range of over 90 km), easing range anxiety in all situations. It can adapt between electric and hybrid modes, and thus ensures reduced emissions and maximum fuel savings.

Chery Tiggo 7 CSH, Tiggo 8 CSH: Design and features 

Visually, the PHEVs will distinguish themselves from the non-hybrid models with a few elements, including redesigned front and rear bumper designs, a charging flap on the right rear panel, and a “Plug-in Hybrid” emblem on the tailgate.

Key interior highlights of the Chery Tiggo 7 CSH are - 24.6-inch integrated dual-screen setup, wireless Apple CarPlay & Android Auto, and 50W wireless charging pad. The Chery Tiggo 8 CSH, on the other hand, features a separate instrument cluster (instead of dual-screen) paired with a 15.6-inch infotainment display.
