20 Things we like about 2020 Bezza

Perodua launched facelifted Bezza earlier this month, and while it has been in the showrooms for less than a month, the company has already received a total of 15,000 bookings for the 2000 Bezza so far. As revealed by the national car giant, it received 7,000 new bookings in 2020, while the rest 8,000 booking orders were rolled over from the pre-update version. Moreover, the company is targeting monthly sales of 4000 units as revealed by officials at the new Bezza launch.

Speaking of changes, with the recent update, Bezza receives a design change and new additions to the equipment list. The safety kit receives Perodua’s Advanced Safety Assist (ASA) 2.0 suite of driver-assist systems available only with the top-spec AV Auto variant, while vehicle stability control has been standardized. Unlike the pre-update version, the new Bezza comes in four variants including 1.0L GX MT, 1.0L GX AT, 1.3L X AT and 1.3L AV AT. These changes do not impact Perodua Bezza price much, though a slight bump is evident. While Bezza has improved over its predecessor on several fronts, we pick 20 things we like about 2020 Bezza, but before we start, here is a look at new Beeza pricing and specifications.

Here are 20 things about 2020 Bezza

Aggressive looks

Changes on the outside transform Bezza’s mundane looks into a sharp semblance. The face looks more aggressive, courtesy new elements, while the view from the side is sporty as it gets new dual-tone 15-inch alloy wheels. The talking point at the back is the chrome strip which connects the tail-lamps.

Standard LED headlamps

The redesigned headlamps on the face are bold and aggressive. Also, the LED headlamps have been standardized, something which was earlier restricted to the top-spec variants. This gives 2020 Bezza a cusp over rivals in the segment and other models in this price bracket.

Sporty side skirts

Another new addition to the A-segment sedan are the sporty side skirts at both ends, which also come as standard. It is available either in body-coloured option or dual-tone and black finish. This new element reinforces sedan’s sporty character and at the same time enhances its visual appeal.

Refreshed tail-lamps

While most of the visual changes are visible at the front, the rear also receives styling tweaks. The major change at the rear is the new tail-lamps, sporting a new design. It uplifts the rear styling and mirrors the aggression at the front to some extent.

Auto-off headlamps

This is a feature which is usually not offered with models in this segment, however, the new Bezza specs sheet comes with the auto-sensing technology which turns off headlamps within 3 minutes, and helps save battery.

Smart-entry with smart key and push start/stop button

It allows the user to unlock the vehicle by just pressing a button or sensor present on the door handle. The Smart Key also comes with a Start-Stop switch, and in case of loss of Smart Key, the vehicle can be unlocked with the help of a spare key-blade provided by the manufacturer.

Driver’s seat height adjuster

Keeping the driver’s comfort at fore, manufacturers these days add height adjusting function for the driver’s seat. This allows adjusting seat height as per the driver’s comfort for a convenient driving position. The 2020 Perodua Bezza also gets this feature, though it is restricted to X and AV variants only.

Smart link system

It is no secret that technology used in cars has evolved over the years. And while the global auto fraternity is working on autonomous systems, the in-car technology has advanced to new levels. The 2020 Perodua Bezza features the Smart-link system that allows mirroring your home screen on the car’s infotainment system, which provides access to all the apps, music and much more to both iOS and Android users.

Utility points

A spacious cabin is a must in a vehicle and utility points make it practical for use. The storage points provided an easily accessible distance are useful in long journeys. Keeping these points in mind, Perodua has provided multiple storage points inside the cabin that works well for the occupants.

Impressive mileage

Fuel-economy is one of the prominent factors that can influence buyers’ decision. Hence vehicles with an impressive fuel-economy are quite popular among consumers. The new Bezza powered by the 1.3-litre engine comes with the Eco Idle technology and is claimed to deliver an imposing mileage of up to 22 km/l. In comparison, the 1.0-litre unit delivers marginally less at 21.3 km/l.

1.3-litre dual VVT-i engine

Out of the two available units, 1.0-litre VVT-I and 1.3-litre VVT-i engine, the latter is more powerful. It makes 94 PS of maximum power along with 121 Nm of torque and is paired to a 4-speed automatic gearbox for transmitting drive to the wheels.

ASA 2.0

The latest iteration of Perodua Bezza now comes with company’s Advanced Safety Assist (ASA) 2.0 suite which comprises a host of driver-assist features including Pre-Collision Braking up to 80 km/h, Pre-Collision Warning up to 100 km/h, Front Departure Alert, Pedestrian Detection up to 50 km/h and Pedal Misoperation Control. This is available only with the top-spec AV AT variant.

Affordable pricing

Despite receiving changes on the styling front and an enhanced feature list, the new Bezza sedan is available at an affordable price point. The base trim is available at RM 34,580 and the fully-loaded top-spec AV AT comes for RM 49, 980.

Comfortable cabin

The cabin features a five-seat layout, and is quite spacious at both ends, offering a comfortable ride experience to the occupants. Most of the models belonging to A-segment have a cramped rear, though Bezza is not too tight at the back.

Large cargo space

Storage space for keeping luggage is equally important as space for seating occupants inside the cabin. As for 2020 Bezza, it has a large cargo volume of 508-litres, which is quite impressive.

Leather seat covers

Adding to the upmarket cabin are the premium leather seat covers that come only with the top range-topping AV AT grade. This feature is hardly seen in the entry-level models, though new Bezza gets it on the highest variant.

Powered retractable wing mirrors

The side door mirrors feature integrated turn signals. Besides, these can be adjusted electrically and come with electrically folding function. Again, this feature is missing in the base trim.

USB port at rear console

The USB port is also provided at the rear for passengers to charge their electrical devices while on the go. Most of the models in the A-segment get USB ports at front only. Thankfully, Bezza sedan gets it on both ends.

Solid safety shield

The safety suite consists of a number of amenities including Rear parking sensors, Vehicle Stability Control, Keyless entry with push start, Front corner sensors, Seat belt reminder, Wireless door lock and alarm, Central lock button instrument panel, Anti-theft device, and ISOFIX system. Other passive features such as Dual SRS airbags, ABS with EBD, Traction control and Brake assist are also part of the parcel.

Front fog lamps

Fog lamps are provided at the front, enclosed in chunky black housings. Perodua has skipped this feature at the rear. It works well during foggy weather during winters. However, it is not s standard fitment, it comes with the mid-and top-spec variants only.

The new Bezza is a major improvement over its outgoing version with the above-mentioned features making it a better option in the segment. Besides, it carries affordable pricing, which works well for the model.
