KUALA LUMPUR: After months of anticipation and speculation, Perodua has finally given relief to the sore eyes by officially launching its highly-awaited SUV named ‘Ativa’ - Activate Every Destination. Much like other new cars in Malaysia, the significant launch of the new Perodua model also took place via a live stream video on the automaker’s official website.

Here, we have the Perodua Ativa final price list, which is amazingly lower than the previously announced estimated range.

Perodua Ativa rear

Touted as the most advanced Perodua yet, the Ativa is based on the Daihatsu Rocky/Toyota Raize compact SUV available in the Japanese market. However, it is not a straight rebadge as the national automaker brings on several styling tweaks that make this Malaysian SUV much different from its Japanese cousins.

At the front, the SUV features LED headlamps and LED fog lamps, which are teamed up with LED tail lights at the rear. With distinctive bumpers and the rear-end resembling the Myvi, the new model rides on 16-inch wheels shod with 205/65 tyres as standard. In the higher trims, customers get two-tone 17-inch alloys with 205/60 units.

In terms of dimensions, the Perouda Ativa measures 4065 mm in length, 1,710 mm in width, 1635 mm in height, and has a wheelbase of 2525 mm. The company described these as A-segment to small B-segment dimensions. Speaking of the boot, the Ativa measures 369 litres with a floor divided into two levels.

Getting inside, here the new Ativa looks much advanced with the features like 7.0-inch multi-info display, a 9.0-inch infotainment system with voice recognition and smart link compatibility, a leather-wrapped steering wheel, stylish semi-bucket seats, and push-start button. However, these features are variant-specific.

Perodua Ativa cabin

Under the hood, the Perodua’s new SUV houses a turbocharged engine that is mated to a D-CVT gearbox. This combination is seen for the first time in any Perodua model. Also, the company embraces downsizing for the first time. All the trims are equipped with a 1.0-litre three-cylinder turbo engine churning out a maximum power of 98 PS at 6,000 rpm and a peak torque of 140 Nm from 2,400 to 4,000 rpm. Perodua claims average fuel consumption of 18.9 kmpl.

On the safety front, the customers will get the latest version of Perodua’s Advanced Safety Assist system as standard. It includes features like a pre-collision warning, pre-collision braking (automatic emergency braking), front departure alert, and pedal misoperation control. The exhaustive list of passive safety bits includes six airbags, ABS, EBD, BA, vehicle stability control, emergency stop signal, hill hold assist, and ISOFIX child seat anchors.

Perodua Ativa safety

Talking about the variant-specific safety features, the Perodua Ativa gets lane departure warning, lane departure prevention, lane keep control, blind spot monitor, rear cross traffic alert, and adaptive cruise control. The available Parking Assist comprises reverse sensors, front sensors, reverse and a rear cross traffic alert system. Included in the Headlamp Assist are auto high beam and adaptive driving beam. With so many safety features on the palette, a five-star ASEAN NCAP safety rating is obvious for the new Perodua.

The Perodua D55L is available in five different exterior shades with an option for a black roof on the top-spec AV trim. Glittering Silver, Granite Grey, and Cobalt Blue available for the H and X trims, while Pearl Diamond White and Pearl Delima Red are there for the Ativa H. Except for Cobalt Blue, all four colours are available with the AV trim.

On purchase of the all-new Perodua Ativa, buyers will get a five-year/150,000 km warranty.
