Countdown begins: Jaecoo J8 set to launch in Malaysia on July 18

KUALA LUMPUR: Omoda Jaecoo Malaysia is finally ready to bring its premium off-road SUV, the J8, to the local shores. The company has officially announced the SUV’s launch date, which is July 18, 2025.

The upcoming Jaecoo J8 looks quite promising for SUV enthusiasts seeking performance, technology, and rugged capabilities. Here’s what it brings to the table.

Two variants 

The Jaecoo J8 is a D-segment SUV set to be launched in two variants - J8 2WD and J8 AWD. The former incorporates five seats spread across two rows, while the latter gets six seats (2-2-2 layout).

Bold and rugged exterior

The SUV features a bold and rugged styling with a huge chrome-plated waterfall-style front grille, slim headlamp clusters and J-shaped trim in the lower apron. Adding to the premium vibe is streamlined side surfacing, flush pop-out door handles, blacked-out D-pillars, subtle creases over the wheel arches, 20-inch alloy wheels, and full-width tail lights.

Adventure-ready off-road capabilities

Built for the extraordinary, the Jaecoo J8 sets new benchmarks in terms of off-road manoeuvrability. It features an advanced torque vectoring system all-wheel drive system that comes with two clutches, distributing torque between the rear wheels independently. 

This increases cross-country ability and improves handling in difficult turns, thus letting the vehicle handle several driving scenarios with ease - urban, suburban, highways, mountains, deserts, mud and water crossings, and snow.

The vehicle also provides a good balance of comfort and stability on any surface, thanks to the CDC magnetic height-adjustable suspension that possesses the capability to adjust the vehicle's height based on varying loads and road conditions.

2.0-litre turbocharged engine

The local Jaecoo J8 will come equipped with a 2.0-litre turbocharged four-cylinder engine that has high thermal efficiency, resulting in low fuel consumption. The key specifications are as follows -

As for technology, the vehicle will come loaded with dual 12.3-inch displays (infotainment unit and digital instrument cluster), waterfall-style rhythmic ambient lighting, SONY sound system, 540-degree panoramic camera, NFC-based keyless entry, automatic fragrance system ventilated driver seat, automatic parking function and Level 2.5 ADAS systems.

Targeting thrill seekers, the upcoming Jaecoo J8 is a great option for both city driving and weekend adventures. The estimated price begins at RM 195,000 and goes up to RM 220,000.
