Over 1,500 units of Perodua Bezza sold in Sri Lanka in two years
KUALA LUMPUR: Malaysia automaker, Perodua recently revealed that Bezza is the best-selling sub-1.0-litre sedan in Sri Lanka. The car is leading the sub-1.0-litre car in terms of sales, across all segments.
According to the carmaker, it has sold about 1,500 units of the Bezza sedan since its launch in the republic that happed around two-years back. In Sri Lanka, Bezza is the fastest-selling model from Perodua, and the Axia hatch has sold about 3,000 units since its launch in 2015.
In Sri Lanka, the Bezza sedan was introduced by Unimo Enterprises. The car is available in a single variant option that is powered by a 1.0-litre mill paired with an automatic gearbox. The Perodua Bezza pricing remains the same as it was at the time of its introduction, i.e., 3.69 million Sri Lankan rupees. As per the current exchange rate, the Bezza price tag reads RM 86,200 after conversion that is less than the RM 103,000, the price at the time of its Malaysian debut in June 2017.
Perodua CEO & president, Datuk Zainal Abidin Ahmed said, “We congratulate Unimo Enterprises CEO and executive director Mahesh Gunathilake and his team for their hard work in promoting the brand and especially for the significant milestones they have achieved so far. We work very closely with Unimo to provide product knowledge and technical training for their sales and service staff, so our valued Sri Lankan customers can rest assured knowing that their Bezzas and Axias are always in the best of hands,”
Mr. Mahesh Gunathilake, Unimo Enterprise Chief Executive Officer and Executive Director, said that the customers love both the Bezza sedan and Axia for their fuel efficiency, compactness, quality, practicality, reliability, and durability. He further added that “the Perodua Bezza has quite successfully introduced the compact sedan segment to Sri Lanka, a market long dominated by hatchbacks. Our customers really appreciate the body style, increased comfort, and cavernous 508-litre boot,”
The Sri Lankan market is one of Perodua’s biggest overseas market with about 15,600 cars sold in the country since 1997. During Myvi’s unveiling in Mauritius earlier this month, Perodua said that it is aiming to export around 3,270 cars in 2019, i.e., a 50 percent increase over last year 2,184 figure.
