Perodua makes new teaser ads for upcoming 7-seater SUV

KUALA LUMPUR: Perodua has circulated some newspaper ads and also put up a banner on its official website about a brand-new 7-seater SUV meant to be introduced soon. The SUV was previously teased at the KLIMS (KL International Motor Show) 2018.

Perodua’s brand-new SUV has been given a codename of D38L. Since it looks very similar to the Toyota Rush on the silhouette, the mechanical specification is expected to be the same. The Rush, however, is powered by the same engine as the Myvi, which is a 2NR Dual VVT-i motor. The mill is capable of pushing out a maximum of 105 PS power, which comes at 6,000 rpm, and the peak torque of 136 Nm comes at 4,200 rpm. The power is sent to the rear wheels via a four-speed automatic transmission. As per Toyota, the Rush is capable of offering a mileage of 15.6 kmpl.

At this, the Perodua D38L and Toyota Rush seem to be twins. Moreover, the tail lights, side mirrors and headlamps are almost similar to Rush’s design. This can be ascertained by considering the images of the car taken at the KLIMS 2018. Though it was completely covered in a box-like wrap, careful intrusions showed several factors to be similar to the Toyota twin.

Inside the vehicle, it is expected that a driver seat USB charging port and a handbag hook will be available. It might have a spacious 7-seater layout inside the cabin.

The new Perodua D38L SUV is likely to get some equipment from the Rush, which includes a Pre-Collision System. There could also be an upgraded version of the Myvi’s Advanced Safety Assist (ASA).

This new Perodua SUV is expected to get a lesser price tag compared to the Rush. The Toyota SUV is presently priced at around RM 93,000. Hence, we can expect the Perodua to have a tag of around RM 80,000.
