Perodua Aruz AV updated with stealthier design and new Vintage Brown colour

KUALA LUMPUR: Perodua has quietly rolled out an update for its Aruz seven-seater SUV, giving the top-spec AV variant a subtle but noticeable refresh.

Revealed via an official Instagram post, the update brings a sportier, more premium aesthetic to the popular family SUV — with a new matte black front grille, blacked-out 17-inch alloy wheels, and matte black interior trim replacing the previous satin silver elements.

Also new to the lineup is a fresh exterior colour called Vintage Brown, which replaces Electric Blue in the Aruz’s colour palette. This rich, earthy tone is familiar to those who’ve seen it on the latest Alza, and now lends the Aruz a more mature, sophisticated appearance.

Exclusive to the AV variant is the addition of a side step, marketed by Perodua as “Elevated Convenience – Side Step.” This feature not only adds a rugged visual element but also serves a practical purpose, making entry and exit easier, particularly for children and elderly passengers.

These cosmetic changes are purely aesthetic, with no changes made under the hood or to the equipment list — but it does give the Aruz AV a more upscale look, possibly to appeal to urban families who want something that stands out a bit more without stretching the budget.

The Perodua Aruz, first introduced in Malaysia in 2019, has since established itself as one of the most affordable seven-seater SUVs on the market.

Built on a rear-wheel drive platform and sharing mechanicals with the Toyota Rush, it remains a popular choice for families needing space, versatility, and safety at an accessible price point.

The Aruz is currently offered in two variants – the base X and the range-topping AV. Both are powered by the same 1.5-litre 2NR-VE naturally aspirated four-cylinder petrol engine, producing 102 PS and 133 Nm of torque, paired with a four-speed automatic gearbox.

Despite its size, the Aruz returns commendable fuel efficiency, officially rated at around 15.6 km/l, thanks to the inclusion of an ECO Idle stop-start system.

Safety is another strong suit for the Aruz, particularly in AV form. It is equipped with Perodua’s Advanced Safety Assist (ASA) 2.0 suite, which includes Pre-Collision Warning and Braking, Front Departure Alert, and Pedal Misoperation Control. The SUV also comes with six airbags, stability control, traction control, hill start assist, and a 5-star ASEAN NCAP safety rating, making it one of the most well-equipped in its class.

Inside, the AV variant adds a touch of luxury with leather upholstery, a leather-wrapped steering wheel, digital air-conditioning controls, keyless entry with push-start ignition, and now, the new matte black dash trim.

Rear passengers benefit from roof-mounted air vents and the newly added side step, which makes the high ground clearance more manageable for everyday use.

Pricing for the Perodua Aruz starts from RM72,900 for the X variant, while the AV comes in at RM77,900 — making it one of the most affordable seven-seater SUVs in Malaysia with advanced safety features and family-friendly practicality.

With this subtle yet effective cosmetic update, the Aruz AV now wears a bolder, more modern look to complement its proven formula of value, space, and reliability.
