Porsche unveils updated 2019 Macan
KUALA LUMPUR: The facelifted 2019 Porsche Macan has been unveiled by the company in Shanghai, China, and it reflects a few new elements that we expect to see in the future Porsche models.
Porsche didn’t poke around much at the front of the 2019 Macan, which is a good thing because the ongoing Macan is already a good-looking car. But, of course, it had to have the latest modern elements it keeping up to date. To do so, Porsche has incorporated a set of redesigned LED headlamps and put up the Dynamic Light System Plus as optional.
Unlike the front, the rear of the 2019 Macan gets a prominent addition - an enormous new tail light. This new setup joins the tail lamps with a single long strip of light that runs across the tailgate. It is something similar to what we’ve seen in the latest Audi A8L. It is a nice touch but we are sure there is going to be mixed opinions about it. It is quite likely that Porsche is going to implement this new style in its future products, primarily in the new 2018 Cayenne and apparently the new 911.
The interior of the new 2019 Porsche Macan has been revised, too. The designers have now fitted a wide 11-inch touchscreen display that replaces the 7-inch unit in the outgoing model. To incorporate this the air-con vents have to be relocated to a lower position. Porsche also provides an optional and much sportier GT steering wheel.
In terms of performance improvements, the 2019 Macan gets a tweaked chassis to provide the SUV with more stability, comfort, and agility, especially in off-road conditions. At the engine front, we are expecting to see a 2.0-litre 4-cylinder unit in the entry-level models, and a 3.0-litre turbocharged V6 and 2.9-litre turbo V6 in the higher trims. The transmission should be an automatic unit that'll send power to all the wheels.
The facelifted 2019 Porsche Macan will be available in a bunch of new colors - Miami Blue, Mamba Green Metallic, Crayon, and Dolomite Silver Metallic. The new SUV is going to be launched first in Europe by the end of this year. So, we are expecting Porsche to bring it here in Malaysia sometime during the early next year.
