That means, instead of buying an RFID tag separately, sticking it on your car, and registering it yourself, you get it pre-installed. Just buy the SUV, and your toll payment system across Malaysia’s extensive RFID-enabled highway network is sorted.

This strategic partnership has been formalised through a Memorandum of Understanding, marking a significant milestone in advancing the country’s connected mobility ecosystem.

The ceremony was held at Proton’s Centre of Excellence headquarters, where Zhang Qiang, Deputy Chief Executive Officer of Proton Edar, and Praba Sangarajoo, Chief Executive Officer of Touch ‘n Go, officially signed the agreement. “It’s about instant gratification,” said Praba Sangarajoo, Chief Executive Officer of Touch ‘n Go Sdn. Bhd. “You drive your new Proton X50 off the showroom floor with RFID already installed, — just like that. This is not just about smarter mobility; it’s about bringing real value and delight into everyday journeys.”

He added, “As two proud homegrown Malaysian companies, this partnership is a celebration of what’s possible when local champions work together. It’s a move driven by purpose to create more seamless experiences for the people we serve, and to make everyday mobility feel easier, faster, and more intuitive. Touch ‘n Go is proud to co-create this milestone with PROTON for Malaysians, by Malaysians.”

With the launch of the all-new Proton X50, we have taken a quantum leap forward to improve the purchase value for customers by offering a new design and new technologies while keeping the price unchanged. By partnering with Touch ‘n Go, PROTON is adding another new feature that fits perfectly with the model tagline of Intelligence That Amazes,” said Zhang Qiang, Deputy Chief Executive Officer, Proton Edar.
