Proton’s September 2025 sales figures out — X50, Saga, e.MAS 7 taking the lead
KUALA LUMPUR: Proton has revealed its group sales figures for September 2025. During the last month of the third quarter, the national automaker sold a total of 13,395 units (including exports), bringing total sales in Q3 to 42,141 units and the year-to-date figure to 114,297 units.

Proton’s market share for the year is projected at 19.9%, which is in line with the brand’s goal of achieving more than 20% of automotive sales in 2025 amid increasingly stiff competition.

Proton e.MAS 7: Remains best-selling EV in Malaysia
The Proton e.MAS 7 held Malaysia's best-selling EV crown very well in September as well. The automaker delivered a total of 845 EVs during the month, bringing total sales to 6,656 units in just nine months.
Well, the brand is up for a significant increase in its electric vehicle sales in 2026 with the commencement of its new EV plant in Tanjong Malim and the impending launch of the e.MAS 5.

Proton’s export updates
Proton is the top automotive export brand from Malaysia. Its export-focused subsidiary Proton International Sales Corporation recorded its best sales month of 2025 in September, with 815 units sold. The year-to-date export sales stand at 3,959 units, representing a 56% hike over the last year.
Proton’s best-selling models in international markets are - X50, Saga and e.MAS 7. The compact SUV led the export surge with 220% growth in volume this year, while the sedan witnessed a volume growth of 14%.
The e.MAS 7 gained strong traction with 443 units exported so far in 2025. After Nepal and Trinidad and Tobago, Singapore became the third country to receive the Proton EV. Mauritius is set to join the list later this month.
“PROTON’s sales performance in September shows we continue to excite the market with our offerings. Q3 of 2025 has been exceptionally good for the company and we plan to carry this momentum into the final three months of the year to both meet our volume target and act as a springboard for 2026,” said Zhang Qiang, Deputy Chief Executive Officer, Proton Edar.
