52 percent booking completed for Aruz, says Perodua

KUALA LUMPUR: Meeting bookings fast is one big task for automakers, especially with all that competition and low patience span of today’s buyers. Well, the domestic automaker Perodua seems to have understood this fact quite well. Ever since the Aruz was launched, the car has been attaining loads of bookings, and the car marker is trying its best to hurry up the supply chain. In March, 4000 units were delivered, and 82,700 units were handed over from Jan to April 2019. And now the Malaysia-born automaker has given out a few more statistics.

Off the 25,000 bookings received, 52 percent has been already met by the company. It seems that the company is burning the midnight lamp to narrow down the delivery gap of its new seven-seater SUV.

As per Zainal Ahmad, Perodua’s President and Chief Executive, they had now successfully managed to hike up the daily production average to 110 from the previous 100 units. He further said, “The Perodua Aruz has met with unprecedented demand. We thank all Malaysians for making the nation’s best-value SUV also one of its best-selling SUVs. To our valued customers whose new cars we could not deliver in time for Hari Raya, we apologise most sincerely and humbly.”

Mr. Ahmad even showed gratitude to the company’s local vendors/suppliers for helping them to step up the production. It is to be noted that 90 percent of the components in the Aruz is local.

In the Malaysian market, the Aruz is available in two trim options - 1.5X priced at RM 72,900 and the range-topping 1.5AV that’ll set you back by RM 77,900. Both the variants are powered by a 1.5-litre 4-cylinder mill that churns out a maximum power of 105 PS at 6000 rpm along with a peak torque of 136 Nm at 4200 rpm. The best part is that the SUV has been certified as an EEV and displays a class-leading fuel economy of 15.6 kmpl.
