Perodua Bezza GXtra launched, replaces Standard G variant

KUALA LUMPUR: Staying true to its words, Perodua Malaysia gave the Bezza sedan a new variant. Launched at the ongoing Malaysia Motor Show, the newly revealed Bezza GXtra will replace the 1.0L Standard G trim.

Not only the new Bezza variant looks better than the standard trim, it also carries a lower price tag. Offered in both manual and automatic transmission, the former costs RM 35,500 and later is available for RM 37,500. Above mentioned prices include a warranty of five-year/150,000km.

Though the GXtra variant sits on the same platform as its elders, it enjoys a better styling. Included in the exterior kit is a sleek chrome grille that towards the end merge with the LED headlamps, wrapping the front profile is a faux air intake. The side gets new chrome door handles and body-colored ORVM. The shark fin antenna on the roof and chrome decorated tailgate add to its plush aura. Along with the existing color splashes, the GXtra would be available in new Ocean Blue hue that was earlier reserved for the Bezza Premium and Advance.

Open the door, and you’ll be greeted by a cabin with a premium look and feel. The dashboard along with the panel surrounding the audio system gets a glossy piano black finish. The steering wheel, air-con surrounds, and gear lever gets a satin finish. Matching the outer detailing, the cabin door handles get chrome coverage. The multimedia system is updated and features Bluetooth connectivity.

Apart from the mentioned changes, rest all features mirrors the Standard G variant. In the carry-forward list are included - fabric seats, manual side mirror, polyurethane steering, 60:40 split-folding mirrors, power windows, and 14-inch alloy wheels.

The safety spec of Bezza GXtra shows no improvement over the model it is replacing. Included in the essential safety gear kit are dual airbag, brake assist, ABS with EBD, and reverse sensors. We were expecting the inclusion of Vehicle Stability Control, but like before it is limited to the 1.3L Advance variant.

The all-new Bezza GXtra is powered by a 1KR-VE 1.0-litre 3-cylinder mill that produces a maximum power output of 68 PS and a peak torque of 91 Nm. The power is transmitted to front wheels via a 5-speed manual or four-speed automatic gearbox.
