Toyota Corolla Cross debuts in UK and Europe

KUALA LUMPUR: It was only recently the Toyota Corolla Cross GR Sport made its Thai debut and now we hear that the UK and Europe get their share of treats in the form of the new Corolla Cross.

The UK and Europe-spec Corolla Cross is based on Toyota New Global Architecture (TNGA) platform's GA-C version. The vehicle’s dimensions specs reading - 4,460 mm in length, 1,825 mm in width, and 1,620 mm in height. The wheelbase reads 2,640 mm.

What powers the Toyota Corolla Cross?

In both the UK and Europe, the Corolla Cross is powered by a naturally-aspirated 2.0-litre inline-four petrol engine making a maximum power of 176 hp at 6,600 rpm along with a peak torque of 202 Nm from 4,400-4,900 rpm. The said mill can be chosen in either FWD or AWD guise. In the former combination, the engine is paired with an e-motor making 113 hp and 206 Nm. The total system output rests at 197 hp.

The AWD version gets an ICE unit making 152 hp at 6,000 rpm and 190 Nm from 4,400 to 5,200 rpm and a rear e-motor rated at 41 hp and 84 Nm of torque. The drive is sent to the wheels via an eCVT unit and the car completes the century sprint in 8.1 seconds.

The safety package consists of the brand's latest Toyota Safety Sense pack that includes - pre-collision system, an emergency driving stop system, lane trace assist, improved full speed range adaptive cruise control, and road sign assist. Further joining the safety kit are - Blind spot monitor, parking assistance with Toyota Teammate Advanced Park, auto high beam, rear cross-traffic alert, panoramic view monitor, and intelligent clearance sonar.

Deliveries of Toyota Corolla Cross will begin from autumn 2022 in Europe.
