All cars & SUVs launching in Malaysia before 2025 ends

So far, 2025 has been a significant year for the Malaysian automotive industry, with several new Chinese brands entering the market (Xpeng, Jetour, iCaur, Denza, Zeekr), growing EV adoption, and major moves from both local and international automakers. Now, as the third quarter of the year approaches the end, the buzz around new model launches is getting stronger. 

Here are some of the cars and SUVs that are expected to hit the Malaysian roads by the end of 2025. 

Perodua eMO EV

One of the most anticipated models set to launch in Malaysia by the end of December is the Perodua eMO EV. The automaker previewed the final prototype of the EV at the Malaysia Autoshow 2025. The Perodua EV is expected to come with an LFP battery pack sourced from CATL, offering a range of 400 to 410 km on a single charge. Initially, the motor, inverter, and battery will be imported, with plans to localise them later. The price is estimated to be less than RM 100,000.

Proton e.MAS 5

Proton’s second electric vehicle, the e.MAS 5 is set to arrive in October 2025. Previewed last month, the e.MAS 5 is a compact electric SUV incorporating a flat rear floor and a generous cabin layout. It will be offered in two variants - Prime and Premium, offering WLTP-claimed driving range of up to 225 km and 325 km, respectively. The EV is powered by a rear-drive motor delivering 114 PS and 150 Nm of torque and a 0–50 kmph time of 3.9 seconds. It is also likely to be priced below RM 100,000.

New Proton Saga MC3

Proton is also working on the upgraded version of its best-selling model, the Saga. As per the market reports, the all-new Saga is expected to be launched towards the end of 2025. While details remain unofficial, the upcoming sedan is expected to come with aggressive exterior enhancements and more advanced tech, including bigger displays and advanced driver assistance systems. Built on the upgraded AMA platform, the new Saga will possibly feature a new 1.5-litre inline-four petrol engine, offering better efficiency and smoother performance. 

BYD Seal 6

BYD Malaysia is gearing up to expand its lineup with the launch of the Seal 6 EV later this month. The Seal 6 is a rebadged version of the BYD Qin L EV, unveiled in China earlier this year.  It is an electric midsize sedan slightly shorter than the regular Seal EV. The China-spec model comes in two battery options - 46.08 kWh LFP Blade and 56.64 kWh LFP Blade, offering a driving range of 470 km and 545 km, respectively. The Qin L EV price ranges from CNY 119,800 (RM 71,028) to CNY 139,800 (RM 82,886).

Smart #5

After its preview at MAS 2025, Smart Malaysia showcased the upcoming smart #5 once again in August, indicating its imminent launch. The EV will be offered in three variants - Pro, Premium, and high-performance Brabus model. The latter is powered by a dual-motor setup, delivering 639 PS and 710 Nm, with 0 - 100 kmph in just 3.8 seconds. Notably, the smart #5 is the brand’s EV that features an 800V electrical architecture, offering ultra-fast charging from 10% to 80% in just 15 minutes. 

Jaecoo J5

This year, the B-segment SUV will be welcoming a new contender in the form of the Jaecco J5. Previewed at Omoda | Jaecoo Carnival in August, the Jaecoo J5 features a bold, boxy SUV silhouette and a refined level of luxury inside. It is powered by a 1.5-litre turbocharged four-cylinder engine making 147 PS and 210 Nm and estimated to be priced around RM 120,000. Bookings for the J5 are now open with an RM 1,000 fee.

Omoda C9 PHEV

Alongside the Jaecoo J5, Omoda | Jaecoo also previewed the C9 PHEV during the carnival. It is the plug-in hybrid version of the C9 SUV, launched in Malaysia last year. While the PHEV looks almost identical to its ICE-powered counterpart, it combines a 1.5-litre turbo engine with three electric motors and a 34.46 kWh LFP battery providing up to 150 km of pure EV range. The Omoda C9 PHEV is expected to hit the Malaysian roads later this year. 

New Volvo XC60 facelift

Volvo Car Malaysia has started accepting bookings for the all-new XC60 facelift, which is expected to launch later this year. The automaker offers the new XC60 in two variants - T8 AWD Plug-in Hybrid and B5 AWD Mild Hybrid, estimatedly priced at RM 333,888 and RM 367,888, respectively. Upgrades include striking cosmetic tweaks, a new air suspension system, redesigned seats, and a new 11.2-inch infotainment unit running on Google built-in system. 

Chery Tiggo 7 PHEV CSH and Chery Tiggo 8 PHEV CSH

Earlier this year, Chery introduced its new Super Hybrid system (CSH) tech in Malaysia to make low-emissions mobility solutions more accessible for local customers. The Chery Tiggo Cross is the first model to feature this new tech, with the Tiggo 7 PHEV CSH and Tiggo 8 PHEV CSH expected to follow later this year. The CSH platform combines a 1.5-litre turbocharged Dedicated Hybrid engine and a high-efficiency e-motor, delivering 347 PS and 525 Nm. It offers up to 44.5% thermal efficiency and a combined driving range of up to 1,200 km. 

GWM Wey G9

A brand-new people hauler from Great Wall Motors, the WEY G9, is also ready to land on the Malaysian shores later this year. The WEY G9 is an intelligent luxury MPV featuring bold styling, an opulent interior, and an advanced PHEV drivetrain generating a combined output of 487 PS and 762 Nm. Ready to rival the likes of the Toyota Alphard and Toyota Vellfire, the WEY MPV is expected to be competitively priced, with local assembly slated to begin soon in Melaka.

GAC Emkoo

Warisan Tan Chong Automotif, the official distributor of GAC Motors, is expected to launch the Emkoo in the last quarter of this year. Bookings for the C-segment SUV are currently underway, with two variants - Premium and Premium Pro. Both variants are powered by a 1.5-litre TGDi turbocharged line-four engine, generating a maximum power of 177 PS and a peak torque of 270 Nm. The estimated price ranges between RM 120,000 and RM 130,000. 

GAC M8 PHEV

Another GAC model that is anticipated to launch in Malaysia by the end of 2025 is the GAC M8. It is a plug-in hybrid MPV to be offered in two variants - Premium and Luxury, with an estimated price ranging from RM 333,000 and RM 380,000. Under the hood lies a 2.0-litre turbocharged engine combined with an electric motor and a two-step dedicated hybrid transmission, promising a best-in-class combined driving range of 1,038 km. 

Wuling Bingo EV

SAIC GM’s Wuling brand is ready to set up its shop in Malaysia. The company showcased the Bingo EV at the Malaysia Autoshow 2025, earmarked to launch in the fourth quarter of 2025. The Wuling Bingo is a compact electric SUV packed with smart tech; it is likely to be offered at a price less than RM 100k. In global markets, the EV comes in two battery options -31.9 kWh and 37.9 kWh, offering a CLTC-claimed range of 333 km and 410 km, respectively. 

With such an exciting range of upcoming models, Malaysian car buyers can look forward to more choices, better technology, and competitive pricing across all segments before 2025 ends.
