One more new Perodua model to arrive in 2023

KUALA LUMPUR: Perodua has bestowed Malaysians with the launch of the all-new Axia just a couple of days ago, but one may wonder if this is the only significant launch by our national automaker for the year. Well, the answer is No! This we can say firmly on the basis of the company’s Chairman statement.

Towards the end of his speech during the launch of the new Perodua Axia, Tan Sri Asmat Kamaludin said, “Please enjoy the rest of the launch, and I hope to see you at our next big event when we launch our new model, [but> I can’t say [more> now.”

Adding to it is the CEO Dato' Sri Zainal Abidin Ahmad statement mentioning the company can handle “one full-model change (FMC) and two minor change (MC) models per year.”

So, now the big question is - Which new Perodua model will be launched next? It could be the new Bezza, new Myvi, or new Aruz. Let’s have a look at the age and previous upgrades of these models to get a better idea -

Talking about the brand’s best-selling Myvi first, the ongoing generation of the beloved hatchback is currently in the sixth year with a major update received back in late 2021. Included in the revisions were significant design changes, new tech features, and advanced safety bits.

Next, we have the Aruz, the three-row crossover made its official debut in Malaysia in 2019 and received an upgrade in 2021. The MC update added a few new features to the SUV with no major changes in terms of design.

The third and last Perodua model that may get a new Avatar in 2023 is the Bezza. The sedan is based on the Axia hatchback, so now that Perodua brought the generation upgrade of the latter, chances for the arrival of the next-gen Bezza are high. The ongoing generation model is almost seven years old with the last update received back in 2020.
