Toyota Etios sedan based on Perodua Bezza revealed

KUALA LUMPUR: The second generation Toyota Etios has been launched in Pakistan. The car is based on Perodua Bezza. It is the first Toyota car to be based on Malaysia's largest car manufacturer’s product.

It has been quite long since Toyota Etios receive a facelifted after its launch way back in 2010. Now, with the launch of this second generation car, Toyota has finally filled up the gap. The vehicle comes with the Eco Idle automatic engine start/stop system and Vehicle Stability Control (VSC). These can also be found in Perodua Bezza.

However, Toyota Etios has some advanced features when compared to Perodua Bezza. Speaking of which the front fascia gets a new set of LED headlights integrated with the adaptive technology. The headlight units are also supported by Front Outer Oblique Light.

The front grille becomes taller than before, and now it consists of horizontal slats. The new Etios also features a sportier bumper, which carries triple downturned air intakes. At the rear, the car comes with new tail lights, which have a slimmer shape. Moreover, there is a diffuser-like insert at the rear bumper.

Getting inside the dash gets a horizontal design, which is similar to Perodua Bezza. It is the three-spoke steering wheel that mainly differs the cabin from the Brezza. However, the Pakistan market variant also features an App Phone Receiver with Intelligent Logic head unit and cruise control.

Toyota Etios is equipped with a 1.3-litre petrol engine that is paired with a four-speed automatic transmission. Though the outgoing model has better displacement, the addition of the Dual VVT-i in this model increases the engine's power to 95 PS, while torque reduced to 121 Nm. Also, the 1.4-litre turbodiesel engine is carried forward from the previous gen model. It churns a maximum power of 68 PS while the peak torque is at 170 Nm.

In Pakistan, the new gen Toyota Etios when on sale from April 1st with a price tag of 2,019,401 Pakistani Rupees (RM 58,516). However, there is not much information, when the new Toyota Etios will be launched in Malaysia.
